    About Campaign

    कसं काय? (Kasay Kay — “How are you?”) is a state-wide public health communication campaign launched by the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra. The campaign transforms a simple everyday Marathi greeting into a meaningful conversation about health and well-being — inviting community participation, strengthening public awareness, and enhancing demand for health care services across the state.

    The campaign operates under the broader vision of माझं गाव, आरोग्य संपन्न गाव (My Village, Healthy Village), guided by the principle of Healthy Citizens, Empowered State, with the aim of building healthy and empowered communities through participatory development.

    The Greeting — कसं काय?

    कसं काय? in Marathi is a common parlance — a familiar, everyday greeting. It is open-ended. It checks on the physical, emotional and social well-being of the person being asked. It is a simple question filled with care and enquiry around health and well-being.

    कसं काय? can be asked to a family member, a friend, a relative, a neighbour, an acquaintance — and even a stranger. It has the potential to shift from an everyday habitual question to a meaningful conversation and dialogue on health and everyday actions.

    Campaign Principle

    1. Health Communication

    Communication that is inviting, questions stereotypes and biases, nudges change of mind and is open to new ideas. Communication that is inclusive and accessible to all.

    1. Healthy Communication

    Communication that nurtures relationships rather than transmitting top-down messages. It fosters dialogue, builds trust and enables participatory community health action.

    • Invite community participation in preventive and promotive health care
    • Strengthen public awareness about health and well-being across all sections of society
    • Enhance demand for health care services available within 5 km radius of homes
    • Address the rising incidence of non-communicable diseases through lifestyle and community behaviour change
    • Shift the everyday habitual greeting into meaningful conversations and dialogue on health
    • Build inclusive health communication that questions stereotypes, biases and nurtures relationships
    • Support sustainable, quality public health through participatory community development

    कसं काय? आपण विचारतो, पण ऐकत नाही. उत्तर येतं, पण थांबत नाही. आज थांब. विचार. ऐक.
    कारण एक प्रश्न विचारला, तर माणूस उघडतो. उघडला तर काळजी दिसते. काळजी दिसली तर गाव निरोगी होतं.
