Various Health Schemes Launched on the Occasion of World Health Day
Mumbai, 7 April – The Health Department must make continuous efforts to provide the benefits of various schemes launched by the Public Health Department to the common citizens, so that the needy citizens get the benefits of health schemes and no one is deprived of them, asserted Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde.
Prof. Shinde was speaking at a program organized at the Yashwantrao Chavan Center in Mumbai. On this occasion, Legislative Council Member Manisha Kayande, Public Health Department Secretary Dr. Nipun Vinayak, Secretary – २ Virendra Singh, Commissioner of Health Services and Managing Director of National health Mission Amgothu Sri Ranga Nayak, Chief Executive Officer of Employees State Insurance Society Astik Kumar Pandey, Director of Health Services, Mumbai Dr. Nitin Ambadekar and representatives of various health institutions across the state were present.
Chairman Prof. Shinde said that, the State’s Public Health Department is working very well and advised the employees of the health department, as well as the citizens, to devote time to maintaining their good health and to exercise regularly. He noted that the people of the state have faith in the health department, and everyone has experienced this during the Covid period. The health department should work diligently and sincerely to further strengthen this trust, Prof. Shinde emphasized.
Speaking at the program, Health Minister Abitkar stated that if the common man takes advantage of the schemes of the Public Health Department, up to 70% of health expenses can be saved. He mentioned that citizens need to be informed that modern facilities like sonography, X-ray, ECG, CT scan, MRI, and dialysis are now available free of cost in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, and rural hospitals. In this context, he stressed the need for extensive publicity of various health schemes so that people are made fully aware of these benefits.
Alongside this, a new vaccination campaign was announced for girls aged 9 to 14 years to prevent cervical cancer. In line with the principle of ‘Prevention is Better than Cure’, emphasis will be placed on preventive measures against serious diseases like cancer. Additionally, the inauguration of a monitoring system for health institutions, the launch of an online portal for construction projects, and the rollout of important training activities such as CPR therapy were also carried out during the event. The objective behind these initiatives is to ensure timely and effective services are delivered to the citizens.
On the occasion of World Health Day, doctors, officers, and employees who have done outstanding work in the health department were felicitated and honored. Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Abitkar reiterated that if everyone fulfills their duty toward strengthening the public health system, the healthcare services in the state will gain the necessary momentum to progress further.
The event concluded with the chanting of the mantra ‘Arogya Dhansampada’ and a renewed resolution to strengthen health services across the entire state of Maharashtra. On this occasion, the dignitaries present also appealed to all citizens to take care of their own health. Minister Shri Abitkar reiterated this message, urging citizens to prioritize their well-being.
