    Mobile Medical Unit

    Under the National Health Mission, the government of India has launched the Mobile Medical Unit

    Project to provide health services to the people in remote and tribal areas of the state where people are

    deprived of health services. The project is being implemented at the district level.

    • 87 Mobile Medical Units are operational in the State in 14 districts with Specially
      Disadvantaged Tribal Groups (PVTG) (Katkari, Kollam and Maria Gond) beneficiaries.
    • also, the remaining 16 mobile medical units are being implemented in 13 districts in the remote and tribal areas of the state.
    • Primary, curative and referral health services are provided regularly and free of charge through mobile medical units to PVTG villages in 14 districts within 5 km from health centers in the state.
    • In these villages, health services such as RCH, vaccination, sickle cell disease, medicines
      and diagnosis, NCD etc. are provided to the beneficiaries at their homes and saturation of health services is done for all the beneficiaries in these villages.
    • A total of 5 employees working in Mobile Medical Unit namely Medical Officer, Staff Nurse, Laboratory Technician, Pharmacy Officer, Driver are working in Mobile Medical Unit.
    • As per Advance tour Program (ATP) of Mobile Medical Unit to 1 or 2 villages per day Minimum 2 times or maximum 4 field visits are made in 25 days in a month.
    • The implementation of the Mobile Medical Unit project at the district level is carried out as per the guidelines given by the National Health Mission.
